I understand that all NFL teams are moving this way, but let's not kid ourselves that they are doing it for our benefit. They are doing it because it's a more effective way for them to get out the messages they want to get out, whilst limiting discussion.
For all their good points (and they are a great way to share media), FB pages and Twitter streams rarely have more than a handful of different discussions going at any one time and it's very difficult to browse between different topics.
I'm sure the people who made the decision to close the forum knew all this. And that makes it disappointing, because it means they have done something they knew wasn't in the best interests of the fans.
But if they can help set up an independent message board along these lines then I guess that's something.
